Streetlights Partnerships Provided Shelter From The Heat

The summer brought record high temperatures and record numbers of homeless families to Streetlights of Bethany and our partners.  Praise God for His Children. Without the help of University Christian Church, Riverdale Presbyterian Church, NAMI, Trinity Assembly of God and most especially Roger Rudder of Samaritan Way we could not have gotten these families the transportation, finances, food, clothing, hotel bills, medicine, ID’s and various other needs taken care of for over a month for each family.  We received help from the hotel personnel themselves as well as individual donations from many of God’s good stewards. The following are some of those who received help this summer.

Roger and I picked up this family from the streets after they called the hotline. We placed them in a hotel, along with another family. Then Streetlights also placed another family, two very ill men who had been released from hospitals with nowhere to go … and the beat goes on….The two families are opening gifts that were purchased by members of University Christian Church.  These two families were placed in the same hotel. They visited each other, helped each other out and held Bible study together in the evening after searching for jobs and housing during the day. Both are now in shelters.

We also were able to get two long term heroin addicts off of the streets, into programs and both have been clean and sober for over five months now, are in housing and holding down jobs. Most importantly, they both have given their lives to Jesus.  We partnered with Trininty Assembly of God to place a domestic violence in a motel until she could get to safety. There were also several crack addicts and alcoholics who are addiction free since entering detox programs, behavioral health programs, etc.

Praise The Lord Jesus for His Mercies are new every morning!!
